Seriously.
Ever since the client got updated, every time I open ROM Launcher to upload my character and recieve the notice, the SV file actually gets sent to them, not copied. There's no SavedVariables file in the My Documents folder after that message appears. The only way to prevent this is to make a copy and restore it after (Open Launcher without Curse Client and you don't lose the SV file), and let the Curse Profiler addon update my character info inside the SV file, which it seems to do regardless of wether Curse Client is running or not. Guess I have to let the Curse Client upload my character less often now. To recap: Running ROM with Curse Client open deletes your SV file. I assume it gets sent to RunesDB. Running ROM without Curse Client you get to keep your SV file and the addon still updates it's stored info of you. Currently, the only way to upload your info is to allow yourself to lose the SV file and restore a previously made backup. I'm not the only one this is happening to, right? |

I don't know much about variable files and such, but I do know my settings such as hotbar layouts, pbinfo settings, etc. get reset after every login now. In another thread others have reported the same problem with the curse client. I am going to uninstall it for now until they get it fixed

I've submittted a ticket. Thanks for confirming it's not just hapening to me.
And as I've said, if you take the proper precautions when you do want to have your data sent (Make a duplicated of the file under a different name), this is not a problem, since people don't usually use the Curse Client at all times. Just run it once in a while to let the data on the site be updated. |

I also had to uninstall the program for the same reason. Hopefully someone will notify us on this thread when the problem is solved.

Also, do remember you can still use the Curse client and not have it upload info -- just uncheck the box on the "Manage Games" tag that says "Upload character profile data", and uninstall the curse profiler add-on. That will also solve the problem.

I just removed it. It's not like it's very useful, anyway, since the reports have been broken and ignored far more often that working for the last weeks. Just have to check the 'new profiles' under tools. Gee, 2 days since a new profile? Broken again. If it's more than 10 minutes, it's broken again, and apparently will remain broken for at least a day before being fixed (for another half day, usually).
Mind you, I'm sure the author is sincerely trying... but right now, it's just not worth worrying about keeping it in the client. |

Just wanted to let everyone know that the dev is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.
(No, it's not me) |

I just keep Curse Client closed now unless I want to update addons. Then I load it up manually, update, and close the Client.
Even without the Curse Client issue, I was already backing up my SaveVariables.lua file and my character directories, so I didn't lose a thing when I ran into this issue. All the same, this kind of thing shouldn't happen. It's beyond aggravation to re-configure addons for no good reason. (Ikarus takes an hour+ alone!) |
